Continual Praise

Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise. (Hebrews 13:15)

Tomorrow, Sunday, is a special day. It’s a day of worship and rest. It is also called the Lord’s Day in scripture, to remember and celebrate that Jesus rose from the dead on the first day of the week. This day is set apart from the other days of the week to gather with God’s people, in person or virtually, to thank God for the new life and rest we have in Christ, to pray and give God glory and to hear God’s Word to us. This gives order to our week and purpose to our lives; we were created to worship and enjoy God forever!

Worship is a lot more than what we do for an hour on Sunday. We are called to continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise. Our offering of praise is in response to being filled with joy in knowing Jesus and the new life He gives us.

Mowing the grass for an elderly neighbor, donating canned goods to Project Outreach and praying for, or with a friend are examples of offerings we can make to God. Every kind and loving act we do in helping others and sharing with them is a sacrifice of praise. Our entire lives—all of our actions and words—can be lived in praise to God for all He has done for us.

Lord God, may everything we say and everything we do be an offering of praise to You. Amen.
