The Creative Creator
“May the glory of the LORD endure forever; may the LORD rejoice in his works.” (Psalm 104:31, NIV)
I think that God had a wonderful time creating nature and all the critters! Can’t you imagine Him laughing out loud with some of His creations? How about the platypus? The skunk must have taken some inspiration. What prompted Him to make the 17-year cicada so noisy? Then there is the turkey buzzard that can smell food over a mile away. And what about the elephant pregnant for almost 2 years?
Have you ever thought about how our great Creator gave all creatures their voices? He had to design each amazing sound. I know that I surely would be doing a lot of trial and error but having such hilarious moments affixing different sounds to each.
Wouldn’t you have enjoyed watching the creation process? The Bible says after each day God said, “This is good!” I somehow doubt that He would be that nonchalant about such an amazing event. I view Him as a universal Creator who might sit and overlook His work, give a good knee-slappin’ laugh and say, “This is awesome! They will love it!” And for a time, they did.
Then things went terribly wrong. Evil crawled in and stole those strolls in the garden; those moments of complete trust. Everything changed…at least for us. Perhaps that is when fear and anxiety entered the scene.
Sadly, many spend time cautiously viewing the Maker of the universe as Someone to dread. He is still creating with us in mind. We are often anxiously found on our knees pleading for resolution of issues concerning loved ones, national or international disasters and sometimes we might even remember to pray for ourselves. He loves us so much that He brings us through.
He made us with the ability to think, reason and commune with Him. Do we? How much is enough? I am not implying that we don’t spend enough time with Him. I will leave that for you to determine.
As the next season begins its colorful change, I am more aware of His artistic nature than ever before. It is so very easy to get caught up in the fast paced, day-to-day hoopla that we don’t see the deer that is now a grayish shade instead of rust, or the fuzzy caterpillar making its way to the milkweed, or the geese honks saying good-bye as they fly south.
We need to say “Thank You!” every chance we get or we will miss His creative creation.
Heavenly Father, what can we say but thank You. Help us to take the time to see the beauty of Your creation and to enjoy it more. AMEN.
