Trust Him
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.
It’s much easy to trust God when life is going well – when you get up in the morning with a smile on your face and a song in your heart. In difficult times, though, when you feel overwhelming stress, loneliness and problems without easy answers - it can be challenging to trust that God knows and cares about Every aspect of your life. Yet that’s exactly what God tells us to do throughout scripture. He tells us to pray to Him, call out for Him and to lean on Him when trouble comes. And some type of trouble always seems to come, doesn’t it?
But, no matter what the trouble is that we face, we can trust the Lord. We can trust Him because He loves us. His love for us is most clearly seen in the gift of Jesus Christ. Through faith in Christ we are the beloved children of God who will Never be separated from Him.
We can trust God because He is omniscient, He know Everything. He always knows what is best for us. We don’t understand all that goes into God’s plan—compared to the full, clear view He has of our life, we see just part of the picture. So, what He chooses for us may not always make sense.
We can also depend on God because He is omnipotent, All powerful. Trust that He will accomplish whatever He—in His wisdom and love—chooses to do.
There will be many times in life when we cry out, “Why, Lord?” Yet by faith the Holy Spirit will help us remember God’s love, wisdom, and power, at work in our lives - even when we can’t feel His presence or understand what He is doing.
Lord God, help us to lean on You, especially on our most difficult days. In Jesus’ name, amen.
