I Have Wrinkles!

“I will be your God through all your lifetime, yes, even when your hair is white with age. I made you and I will care for you. I will carry you along and be your Savior.” (Isaiah 46:4, TLB)

ME: I have been using this wrinkle cream for the past six months and they are not going away. Really, I do not see much of any difference at all.

JESUS: And…

ME: Well, I want my skin to look young again, not like crepe paper. In fact, I would like my arm wings to disappear and gravity to stop dragging and sagging all my parts out of place.

JESUS: And…

ME: I know, You are probably thinking I am complaining again.

JESUS: Quite frankly, you have not thought this through very well. I want you to be more concerned about what people can’t see when they look at you. You have wrinkles on the inside that have yet to be ironed out.

ME: What are You talking about? Where are they? What are they?

JESUS: Your hesitation to serve Me is what I would call a wrinkle. Yes, you eventually will do it but it takes you a long time to take action. Sometimes you even seek approval from others instead of listening to Me.

ME: Do I really do that?

JESUS: And how about your tithing? Sometimes you quickly calculate how much you can afford when you know what is expected. I consider these to be wrinkles in your heart.

ME: I think the outside wrinkles are easier to deal with. Can’t we start there?

JESUS: Really? Are you forgetting your age? I created you and I am aware of every blemish, skin tag, stretch mark and wrinkle that you have. I know how much hair you have lost and I also gave you pure white hair because I think it is beautiful. Why are you insistent on changing My creation?

ME: I want to look young again.

JESUS: But you are not young anymore.

ME: Are You telling me to stop trying to be someone I’m not?

JESUS: Yes! Be the person I created. Let’s get rid of some of the inside folds.

ME: I don’t know how to do that; You are going to have to help me.

JESUS: Start by listening to what I tell you in our quiet moments and pay attention to what I have written. You will find loving words of guidance all throughout the Bible, in many cases multiple times.

ME: Maybe I should pay more attention to You and less to commercials like Crepe Erase.

JESUS: That is a good starting point!
