Holding His Hand

For I am the LORD your God, who holds your right hand, who says to you, “Do not fear, I will help you.” Isaiah 41:13

God spoke these words to His people in Israel after their release from Babylonian captivity and these words still speak to God’s people today. The Israelites were having yet another time in their history where they were under bondage, but God promised He would stay with them throughout and orchestrate their return home. This, like other stories in the Bible are not just stories contained in history, but they bring us a message that God is constant, unchanging, and in control of yesterday, today and tomorrow. And what a glorious picture we have – God holding our hand – never letting go.

Boy are we in a mess in the world today. We’re all impacted in personal ways. The economy is difficult, we have the social unrest that appears will only grow until we can learn to listen to each other and cooperatively work on solutions. We all experience stress at work, tensions in our families and times of illness. This passage strikes me as one we all would benefit from, memorizing it so as to remind us of God’s unwavering promise. Each of us is known by God personally. Each of us can be certain that God knows us, our struggles, and the situations in which we find ourselves. And, best of all, each of us is loved by God. His words to you and I are “Do not fear, I will help you.” God will walk with us whatever we are dealing with.

As we walk with God, we don’t need to worry about how tight the grip of our hand on His… He is the one who is holding on to us! Stand this up directly in the face of the adversities and trust God’s word.

Lord, by Your Spirit make us to grow in trusting the power and certainty in Your statement that You are holding our hands, each of us, in our uncertainties and struggles. Strengthen us and uphold us in Your mighty hand and for that may we simply reply Thank You Lord.  Amen.

You Never Let Go
