Jesus Knows How to Email
For we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord's sight but also in the sight of man. 2 Corinthians 8:21 (ESV)
ME: Jesus, You know I have been just a little down recently. Maybe it is a major milestone birthday thing. I am so grateful to be alive this long but not all my parts are working properly. That bothers me!
JESUS: Your heart and your mind are functioning very well. You are still able to articulate and share My love with others. Granted, your physical actions are on a smaller scale than forty years ago, but the impact is greater.
ME: I guess I still don’t totally trust You to meet all my needs.
JESUS: What haven’t I done for you?
ME: Well, I get tired so easily now.
JESUS: But you do not yet know how to slow down and simply enjoy life.
ME: OK, I get it. How about the fact that I am still working?
JESUS: My child, that is a matter of your choosing. Perhaps you should trust Me more. By the way, who gave you these jobs and this talent? Who orchestrated all of this for you?
ME: Ummm…I am so sorry. Sometimes I forget to thank You for my blessings. I guess that I feel lonely at times. It seems that the only things I do are eat, work and sleep…and then really not much sleep. I see other people have lots of fun but…
JESUS: Stop right there. How many times last week did your closest friends email you asking, “Are you ready for your birthday?” or “How are you REALLY doing?”
ME: You sent three.
JESUS: Yes, I did. And how did you respond to them? Let Me see, you told them that you can’t wait to be 70 and you don’t feel a day over 50. You told someone else, “I have never felt better!” Now, I impressed these people to reach out, but you were not exactly honest, were you? Why is it so hard to be honest with your feelings? You tell Me and I listen.
ME: But You are Jesus. Maybe I just don’t think anyone really cares what I think or how I feel—except You.
JESUS: I know, dear child, that you find comfort and peace in Me, but others can give you that physical hug that I cannot. However, I send My love through others…just like the emails.
ME: I’ll try. Jesus, can I ask You a question?
JESUS: Of course. What?
ME: It was about technology but maybe that is another conversation for later.
