My Times Are in Your Hands
But I trust in you, Lord; I say, “You are my God. My times are in your hands… Psalm 31:15
ME: I know that I know that Your hands are absolutely capable of caring for me and meeting my needs. But the truth is, I still struggle.
JESUS: And…
ME: I want to relax more because in my head I know I am in Your care but in my heart, there is still that tiny question that goes like this: If You have the whole world in Your hands, that includes every living being. How can You watch us all and take care of all of us? How do You keep all our prayers straight and not get mixed up?
JESUS: I am utterly trustworthy!
ME: Through Your Word, You have made that clear but somehow, I can’t really grasp this. What is wrong with me?
JESUS: You forget that My time is not the same as your time. Even King David had to learn about trust. Once he believed these words in his heart, things got better. “But I trust in you, Lord;” I say, “You are my God. My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies, from those who pursue me” (Psalm 31:14-15). Trust takes time!
ME: It is so hard for me to trust You and wait. When I am looking forward to a future event, I want to fast-forward to that day.
JESUS: I know.
ME: When I am feeling sick, I want to feel better right now but I have to wait and be patient. You know, I am not a patient patient.
JESUS: I am well aware of that as well. You must understand, I live above the tyranny of time. In fact, I am the Master. Perhaps you simply analyze things too much.
ME: So, what am I supposed to do, just trust You completely? That just sounds too easy. There’s got to be more to it than that!
JESUS: No, that is truly it! I’d like you to learn to rejoice in knowing that I, the Master of time, understand your struggles perfectly and I love you with an everlasting love. Feel free to Trust in Me at all times…pour out your hearts to Me (Psalm 62:8).
ME: I wish that I could do this. I feel like such a bother.
JESUS: My child, trust Me, I will love you forever!
