Snow – Focus
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you. Isaiah 26:3
I am convinced that Jesus must shake His head and chuckle at my thoughts sometimes. Last week with the snow, my morning went sort of like this:
Oh look, what beautiful snow and it is still coming down. It is so pure and I love the way it has drifted against the trees.
Wait, that means that it has drifted everywhere.
It is crisp and definitely winter weather. I missed our winters in FL but they are having chilly days now too.
I wonder if my car will start. I have a lot of errands to run today.
I can hear the wind whipping around outside. From my bedroom, I can see deer tracks to the feeding stump.
(Sigh) I did not take food to them last night – it was too messy to get out there. I feel so guilty. Well, I will get them tonight.
Oh look, the wind has wrapped the flag around the pole. I only see half of the flag. And look at that greedy blue jay at the feeder. Thank goodness I filled all the feeders yesterday.
I am so grateful to be inside a warm, cozy house.
How do homeless people and animals survive days and nights like this? Father, please protect them.
This stream of thoughts took less than two minutes after I was out of bed. I did get around to thanking my Father for His provisions, but it took time. Let’s face it, our minds wander and it doesn’t take much for us to get all tangled up with plans, emotions, thoughts and anything else that comes along. So easily we can become like a scan of yarn in the paws of a playful kitten.
Thankfully our heavenly Father is patient and willingly helps us find the ends and get the knots out. He is so tolerant with our crazy antics and random thoughts. Don’t even try to act like you don’t have them for these human traits are built into us. They can keep us on our toes so that we come running back to Him. Lovingly, He untangles us and then off we go on another tangent.
We must never forget to thank Him for His patience. Imagine being left alone with your own thoughts!
Father God, I am thankful for all that You have provided – even my wandering mind. But please help me spend more time focusing on Your thoughts and Your will. AMEN.
