Half Lived Moments

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11

We all have experienced half-lived moments in our lives when we have said, “Is that all there is?” Or maybe we even have thought, I wonder what the outcome would have been if I had… Those are all in the past now so as you’re doing your spring cleaning this year, get rid of those heavy, useless burdens; they are of no value to you now.

Seriously, I doubt that any of us are living every moment to the fullest all the time. In order to do that, we would have to be attached to His hip 24/7. That is a great goal; staying in touch with Him about everything because He cares for us. But we fall short of that daily. So, let’s take a deeper look at some half-lived moments. We ask, “How?” and He says, “Because.”

There is our experience and then there is what He desires for us to come into contact with. I do believe that these can be vastly different. We tend to want the drive-through version of events but that is far from His thoughts. We microwave and He slow cooks for hours. We want the flower to bloom a few days after planting seeds and He wants us to learn patience and to envision what is happening underground to make it become a beautiful blossom. We want now and He declares when.

We may catch part of the moment but until we stop and thank Him with a grateful heart, we can’t achieve that fullness. It is just impossible to live in the moment without Him. He has a purpose and plan that often forces us to wait and if we don’t jump ahead, we find blessing upon blessing waiting for us. We like now and He likes later.

What we see, think or feel is a minute fraction of what our loving Father wants to give us. Wrapped up in our daily experiences are life-lessons; some are huge and some small. When we become impatient or even greedy, we miss His part of living the life He desires for us. We say “Let’s just do it!” He says “Let’s do it together.”

He has more in store for us that we could ever imagine! Perhaps we truly need Him more than we can possibly understand.
