Faith Balance

The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song I give thanks to him. Psalm 28:7

In my younger days at the publishing company where I worked in FL, they referred to me as a word smith. Perhaps I still am one of those people who likes to mold words together and finds intrigue with unique usage. Well, not long ago I heard someone on the radio say that they felt it was necessary to keep a good faith balance. My ears perked up! I’d never heard that phrase before.

When things are going well and our days are uncluttered or easy, we seldom think about telling our loving Father that we trust Him. We get too busy enjoying the day and how free we feel. While we all know that we are not going to dance on the mountain top for any extended period of time, we still don’t feel an urgency to spend time stashing away faith builders.

Perhaps we could envision these accounts with faith coins. We must trust Him and talk to Him about everything. When we can do this, it’s as if we put a coin into His faith-treasury. The more we endeavor to trust Him, the more He empowers us to do so. Our faith balance grows daily!

How about withdrawals? Yes, there will be days when the difficult situations hit and we feel threatened, alone and backed into a corner. However, these are the times when we reach into the faith-treasury and remember when He has been faithful and provided a way out when we were convinced of disaster. He built our trust then—and He will continue to do so.

Once we have settled again, if we check our balance, it will always be higher because our trust has grown. The crazy thing about the faith-treasury is that it just increases. If we are putting our trust in God, it is literally impossible to have an overdraft. You can bank on God!

Reminder: His endless banking hours—24/7 and 365!

Lord I Trust You with Selah

Father God, thank You for being so good to us. Your love has carried us through some difficult times and it never seems to run out. Please give us the ability to trust You more every day. AMEN.
