The Fox
Catch for us the foxes, the little foxes that ruin the vineyards,
our vineyards that are in bloom. Song of Solomon 2:15 (NIV)
So cute and adorable are baby foxes! Our natural instinct is to pick them up and cuddle them and just love on them like there is no tomorrow. Nature does not usually allow us to do that and we should be grateful for they can be rather stinky critters.
As sweet and innocent as this little guy may look, he can certainly cause some serious damage in the hen house, rabbit hutch or vineyard. Are we similar to the fox? A fox is just a fox; it’s not trying to be anything else. Do we look cute on the outside but have manipulative and cunning thoughts hidden in our hearts?
In my earlier days, I did some wacky things that I am not proud of, but I still marvel at how I got away with them. I did not look the part that I was playing. How could that sweet, happy and friendly person do those things?
The essential phrase here is part I was playing. We all have changed our demeanor and presentation depending upon who we are with at the time. We claim to be one person and yet we are quite the opposite. Why do we pretend in the first place? God uniquely created each of us with a purpose. In the entire world, there is no one exactly like you or me. That should tell us something!
If it is adventure that you are seeking, being a Christ-like human being should satisfy your cravings. There is nothing on earth that will give you more thrills than following Jesus! I am not referring to a half-hearted attempt or temporary goal. When long time prayers are answered, when lost souls in your family make decisions, when marriages are restored, when loved ones are healed—now those things are thrilling.
A fox is just a fox; it will never be anything else. How about you? Is it time to be the person God created you to be? Let Him redesign you, I promise you won’t ever regret it!
Merciful Father, thank You for creating only one of me. Help me to be the best me I can be to Your glory and honor. AMEN.
