Make Time!
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26 (NIV)
Will we ever have enough time? Time is rushing by, and I can’t seem to keep up. I am not even sure how to share this feeling with you—but I certainly am going to try. Every now and then I get this urgency in my spirit that says I should be doing more. I cannot explain where it comes from or what I should be doing but it makes me uneasy.
The older I become, I am well aware that I have less and less time to make a difference. Please tell me how to make changes for a better world today? To be quite honest, I have slowed down. My problem solving is not what it used to be. When I figure out solutions, I am usually too tired to work on it. It takes too long to explain everything to someone else, so I tend to let go of things. I often think, ‘Just let the younger ones deal with this!’
I am so grateful for the years that influenced my life. Growing up on a big farm was the best! (Of course, I did not see it that way as a kid.) We did not worry about stranger-danger and even played outside after dark. Our neighbors kept an eye on us, and God help us if we stepped out of line or showed any disrespect. We knew a hard day’s work and it felt good to accomplish big tasks. Back then, we had all the time in the world.
Most of us have covered a lot of ground in our lifetime. Some outstanding and some we would rather erase forever and then re-write the story. Hopefully, we have learned from our mistakes and therefore we have this deep desire within us to help others avoid trouble, heartbreak, and ruin.
Maybe that is the urgency I feel. Wanting to help others but not knowing where to start brings stress. In this jumbled up, crazy, violent, impatient, racist, and disrespectful world, what can we say or do? Sometimes it feels like the world has me by the throat! I am but one person; yet I know I do not stand alone. There are many out there with the same desire to help. But how?
Become a prayer warrior and go to war! We must ask the Holy Spirit to pray for us because we don’t even know where to start. Make time to talk with Him because it will change you…and who knows what else.
Loving Father, thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit. Help us make time to do Your perfect will. Please give us the strength and courage to stand tall for You. AMEN.
