From Nothing to Something

…and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now. John 2: 9-10

I am pretty sure that we have all been in the position of staring into the frig and not finding much or not finding anything of interest. Mornings with Jesus contributing author, Heide Gaul, intrigued me with her devotion. These do not have titles so I would have called it My Eternal Chef, No Recipe Needed or the title above. What do you think?

I stepped into the kitchen, focused on preparing dinner. I’d neglected grocery shopping for too long, and the pantry was close to empty. Opening the refrigerator, I gazed at a random assortment of condiments, a few eggs, and butter.  They seemed to stare back blankly, as if daring me to come up with a recipe. What could I make with what little I had?

As I cooked an omelet, my mind wandered to the way Jesus had chosen me. Just as my empty refrigerator lacked sustenance, I had little or nothing to offer Him. But He chose me, not for who I was, but for who He is. His Love transformed my nothing into His something, just like the water Jesus turned to wine—the best wine. This was His first public miracle but not His last.

Jesus has done a miracle in me too. I looked inside my soul. Where once there was a hollow shell, I now discovered hope, patience and love. A mind focused on His truths.

A few random ingredients provided one meal for me, but water became the best wine for many guests in the Master’s hand. My eternal Chef is still cooking up miracles, no recipe necessary.

FAITH STEP: What miracle has Jesus performed in your life? Maybe it’s time to share it.

Passion, More Like Jesus

Heavenly Father, thank You for changing my life from the inside out. Please increase my trust as we continue this journey together. AMEN.
