How Does Your SPIRIT React?
Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:21 (NIV)
I love a good sense of humor and I try to find good in people. However, I tend to judge people by words and deeds. I am not a perfect person and I mess up frequently. I don’t please everyone and have made enemies during my lifetime.
I came across a statement online while doing some research. After reading it I leaned back in my chair and chuckled. Being struck by the statement, it set me to thinking because it is true for each of us.
Here's the statement: “Some People won’t like you because your spirit irritates their demons.” WOW! Initially, it made me laugh but then stopped to think through it. What exactly does that mean?
I understand we are all born in sin. We are also told we can overcome our sin nature by trusting, growing in faith and paying attention to God’s Word. God desires this for us by showing and teaching us His ways every day. He is well aware of our imperfections but continues to love us.
Evil is extremely sensitive to God’s holiness. Proverbs 17:4 says: "An evildoer listens to wicked lips, and a liar gives ear to a mischievous tongue." A person who lives an evil life, who purposely disobeys God’s Word, will absolutely recognize the Holy Spirit within us.
I want all demons to recognize that I belong to my Father and I pray that when I am faced with evil, I will shield myself with the Armor of God (Ephesians 6:10 – 18). I want to be able to wear my armor, stand my ground, and stand firm…And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. Be alert and continue praying for all the Lord’s people.
The Battle Belongs to the Lord
Father, thank You for the ways You have provided for us to recognize the presence of evil, even when it tries to live within us. Your Son came to earth to die for our sin and to give us the freedom to live a more perfect life. I want evil to always recognize that I belong to You. AMEN.
