Sin Titanic

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God… Romans 3:23

We are all in the same boat and it is going down! Every human being that has ever set foot on this planet has sinned in one way or another, whether it is a “little” sin like gossiping or a “big” sin like murder or adultery. But from God’s Word, we can be assured that sin is just sin. There are no levels listed. When you disobey, you have simply disobeyed—period!

True repentance and asking for forgiveness might get us in a lifeboat. For that, we should be joyfully jumping up and down and praising God for the rescue. How many times have we seen friends (or been the ones) who have survived a disaster and stayed on His path for a short time only to wander off again. You can hear them (us) saying, “Whew, that was a close one!”

“Why did You save that person if You knew they were going to risk it all again?” I’m sure people wondered that about me. I did significantly sinful things in my lifetime and frequently wandered off. Each time I begged for mercy. He let me know He loved me unconditionally, but He never let me off the hook. I still had to deal with the consequences of my actions, however, He never left me alone in my messes. I finally understood: Stop sinning and you won’t have so many messes to clean up!

When I think of all the people around me who do not have or want the assurance of God’s love and protection, I am overwhelmed with sadness. Does the ship have to sink before they realize that there is need of a Savior? Sadly, some of them might be sitting in the pews every Sunday. They attend, participate and appear to be “safe” but they have yet to put on the life jacket and sinch it up! It is not something to be worn in case of an emergency—it becomes daily attire.

Don’t get caught without your life vest that has been provided specifically for you by our Savior, Jesus Christ. He paid a high price to obtain it.

Nearer My God to Thee

This second link is definitely emotional, yet its message rings out the need for a Savior!

Gracious God, we thank You for saving us. Please forgive us our sins and wanderlust. We need You all the time, not just in the face of disaster. AMEN.
