Acts of Awe and Wonder
Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. Acts 2:43 (NIV)
Every time I see a bald eagle, I am caught up in their beauty and size. Such a powerful bird! I am awestruck by their majestic appearance but melted by their parenting and caring of their young. Amelia Rhodes shares a wonderful story from All God’s Creatures that calls us to share with others.

My family paddled our kayaks down a familiar stretch of river in early spring. We chatted, enjoying each other’s company while keeping an eye out for rocks in the river. Halfway through the trip, my daughter excitedly pointed upward and told us to hurry and look. Then she pulled out her phone and captured a video of a large bald eagle taking flight from a tree hanging over the river just above her head. In all our trips down the river, we’d never spotted a bald eagle. We looked upward in awe as it circled over our heads, it wings stretched wide, hovering over us, waiting to return to its perch after we passed by.
We chattered about the eagle for the next few days, still in awe of its impressive wingspan and power. We couldn’t believe we’d encountered such a magnificent creature on “our” stretch of the river. We shared the experience and video with everyone we talked to in the following days. The joy of this encounter was something we couldn’t help but share with others.
Believers in the early church were continually filled with awe over God’s mighty acts of power through the apostles. They shared this joy and awe with anyone who would listen, and their community grew daily. I don’t often see supernatural acts of power and miracles, but the eagle on the river reminds me I have no less reason to be in awe of God. I see His power and majesty every day in His creatures, the beauty of the world around me, and in acts of kindness from others. Just as the early believers were filled with awe and shared that joy, I can share my awe of God with others and bring Him honor each day.
Walk of Faith: Share one thing that has deepened your awe of God with someone today. Maybe it was provision answering a need, a beautiful sight in creation, or an act of kindness from a friend.
