Ain’t That the Truth!
Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Romans 12:6-8
I am technically challenged! When my laptop skips a beat, it flips on my anxiety button. Please don’t tell me how to fix it, come fix it for me. My brain tells me, ‘I can’t do it’ and then I hear myself saying, ‘I won’t!’ I’m not being mule-ish, but you might as well speak to me in a remote island language. I just do not have a mind for intricate details like that. Isabella Campolattaro (Mornings with Jesus) and probably millions more share my plight.

I was ready to pull out my hair! My internet connection was intermittent, and I’d been on the phone for more than an hour troubleshooting with technical support. Unfortunately, I’m not the most tech-savvy person, and following suggestions for a fix only made matters worse. Finally (I imagine because they deemed me hopeless), the cable company rep agreed to send out a technician.
A clean-cut young man knocked on my door. Bright-eyed and brimming with enthusiasm and professional courtesy, he quickly identified the problem. Once he made the repair, he tested his fix to ensure it worked.
Some people operate within their gifts, doing what they love and are graced to do, and it is exciting. Some tasks I do with dazzling effectiveness and joy. Others, like technology, are not my passion. I haven’t a smidgen of gifting and it shows.
In Christ, all believers have different spiritual gifts. Jesus has graced me to do many everyday tasks like being cheerful, compassionate, kind, and generous. Not everyone is meant to serve in children’s ministry, live in the mission field, preach on street corners, or repair technology. When I’m properly connected to the ultimate source - Jesus’s power, my passion and gifts are used for His glory.
FAITH STEP: Are you struggling to serve God? Ask Jesus to help you in finding the gift with which you’re graced.
