Note to Self

The bounce back from surgery has not been a piece of cake this time. My mind says one thing and my body is speaking a back-woods, foreign tribal language. I am learning to ride the waves. Yes, I am doing some surfing these days. Some days I catch the wave and others…well, I’m under the big one.

I started thinking (in all my spare time) about encouraging others and what I would want to hear so I wrote an encouraging note to Maureen.

Dear Maureen,

May you find comfort and a deep peace during your recovery time. Don’t be in a rush! Let your body and mind heal in God’s timing. I know you well, and you want everything fixed NOW but that isn’t God’s plan for you. Spend more time with Him and listen and hear what He has to say in the quietness.

This setback is not a life sentence. It is just a setback. Use God’s Word to find your way. I have included some verses that may bring you some encouragement. He is with you every single step of the way and He knows how weak you feel.

A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. Isaiah 42:3

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” the Lord, who has compassion on you. Isaiah 54:10

I want to encourage you to pray, even when you don’t know exactly what to pray for.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26

My desire is that you will find peace during this time. He said it and He means it! He offers it to all who trust Him.

"The Lord gives strength to his people, and the Lord blesses his people with peace." Psalm 29:11

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

In wrapping this up, I pray that God will abundantly bless you with good health in the days ahead. Rest now, knowing that you are loved and don’t forget to thank Him for all He has done.

Our God Is an Awesome God

Father God, You Are an amazing God and worthy of our praise. Help us to slow down and observe You at work in this world and in our lives. AMEN.
