His Protective Care
Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us Ephesians 3:20
ME: What a strange feeling to be living 3.5 hours from my family! I didn’t worry about them much when I lived nearby. If they ever needed me, I could have been there in less than 10 minutes. But now, it’s different!
JESUS: Entrust your loved ones to Me; release them into My protective care. They are much safer with Me than in your clinging hands.
ME: That is so easy for You to say but right now I am struggling to let go.
JESUS: If you let a loved one become an idol, you endanger that one—as well as yourself.
ME: I do not worship them. I think of them more often now.
JESUS: Yes, perhaps more than you think of Me.
ME: Oh, I am so sorry.
JESUS: I know. Let’s look at Joseph for a few minutes. Joseph and his father, Jacob, suffered terribly because Jacob loved Joseph more than any of his other sons and treated him with special favor.
ME: Well, I only have one child, a daughter, so I don’t have that problem.
JESUS: Really? You are not hearing what I am saying. When you think about someone more than you connect with Me, that my child, is a problem. I detest idolatry even in the form of parental love, so beware making a child or grandchildren your idol.
ME: Am I doing that? Oh no!
JESUS: You’re getting close. Precious one, when you release loved ones to Me, you are free to cling to My hand. As you entrust others to my care, I am free to shower blessings on them.
ME: How do I recognize the boundary line?
JESUS: It is through our conversations that I expose your faulty thinking. You need not be anxious because My Presence will go with them wherever they go, and I will give them rest.
ME: Is that the same peace that helps me rest and feel alive?
JESUS: Yes, this same Presence stays with you as you relax and place your trust in Me.
ME: I believe You…almost!
JESUS: Just watch and see what I will do.
