God, Our Center ~ by Anonymous
I revere your commandments, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes. Psalm 119:48
In this passage David was praying to God asking God’s guidance to deal with the people who were taunting him. David knew; if he focused on God he could deal with anything.
When I think of God’s commandments, I think about the first and most important commandment that states “You shall have no other Gods”, and that we are to love our God with all of our heart, mind, and soul. I find in my own life when hard times come, if I switch the focus away from the problem, and focus on God with all my heart, I am able to put things in better perspective. When I put God first in my life, everything else seems to fall into place. Suddenly things that used to seem important are really not as important.
What would happen if everyone in the world centered their lives on God? Would our world look any different? The only thing God really asks of us is that we have a relationship with him. He wants our hearts more than anything else. Let us take time today to really take a close look at our lives and re-focus and reprioritize our hearts and lives around Jesus Christ.
God, we ask You to help us focus on You. May we center our lives on You - Your Word, Your love and Your Son our Savior. Amen.
