Please Take Care of Us All
Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save. Isaiah 46:4 (NIV)
My dear friend from Bible study often says, “Please take care of us all!” in our prayer time. Why is it worth mentioning? Well, the passion with which she says it gets me every time. Even when facing difficult issues of her own, she speaks with compassion for others.
When life throws us a curve ball, our response is important. Most of us take a break from our routine and have all kinds of emotions—maybe even a few temper tantrums. Unfortunately, the questions we ask God will never be answered on this side. We argue, worry, beg, and feel absolutely lost. Our human emotions kick into high gear and we are off to the races. Initially, we fail to remember that He is Jehovah Rapha (God that heals).
What if the problems we face are only meant to deepen our faith and draw us nearer to Him? Could He be sending a message? Love Me, love people.
Maybe your giant is not health related. We are faced with all kinds of gigantic trials and thankfully it is not every day. Perhaps you made a mistake in your banking math, the car wouldn’t start, your child has decided he/she is the wrong gender, your pet has reached the last days, an unexpected death in the family, or you are simply feeling blue. The promises God made in Isaiah cover today in 2024!
That was then and this is now does not work when considering His promises. They are timeless!
Kindness for others, when our world has caved in, is not easy. Unless we are firmly grounded, we cannot offer any compassion to others. We are not capable of giving away something we don’t personally own.
Let’s get real; none of us are kids anymore! At some point, we were urged to grow up. Most of us went willingly but a few dragged their feet (and still are). There is, however, some good news nestled in here: He is and will be with us and take care of us.
Heavenly Father, thank You for speaking to us. We need to seek Your compassion and then love others as You love them. Teach us to remember that You are always with us, and You will carry us. AMEN.
