Are You Prepared?

Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect Matthew 24:44 (ESV)

We have prepared for several big snowstorms this winter. The food was flying off the shelves at the local grocery store; milk, eggs and bread were hard to find. Carts bump as glaring pushers feel an urgency to get ready. Truth be told, storms come whether we are ready or not!

It reminds me of my life in Florida when hurricane seasons crept up. The parking lots at Home Despot and Lowe’s had unending lines for lumber to board up their homes. Lines at the gas pumps were hazardous to your health.

The desire to safeguard earthly possessions was over the top, much like it often is here in PA.

The storm? Well, it is what it is! But in life, we face all different kinds of storms—financial, loss, illnesses, relationships, etc. Wisdom tells us to be get prepared and stay there. The trouble is that we tend to underestimate the possible damage of those blizzards or tornadoes, so we don’t stay vigilant.

When we are alert, prayed up and suited up with God’s shiny armor, the storms have little sway or staying power. However, it’s when we relax and take off the battle gear that we find ourselves faced with personal tsunamis.

Someday, He’s coming back for us. We don’t want to get caught telling Jesus, “Just wait a minute; I’ll be right back. My robe of righteousness is hanging in my closet. I’ll go get it.” It would be great if there was a one-size-fits-all robe that we could carry in our purse or backpack; one that we could quickly slip on and off. But such an as-needed robe does not exist.

Regardless of the name of the storm type, get ready and stay ready!

You either wear His robe and armor—or you don’t! It’s like being sort of pregnant; either you are, or you aren’t. These words stir up lots of varying emotions but every now and then, we need to read and hear the truth.

He is coming back! Are you prepared?

Jesus Is Coming Back

Loving Lord, thank You for the promise of Your return. Help us to get ready and be prepared for that unknown date. Keep us alert and ready with wild anticipation. AMEN.
