The Blessing of Love

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. Ephesians 1:3-4, (ESV)

While I cannot see the look on your faces, I am almost certain that you are smiling right now. I am praying for a sunny day for you, even if it is pouring rain, damp and chilly.

Why do I do this? I write because I am blessed and feel it in my heart. My desire is that you all will feel that same kind of joy. Feeling loved and loving others is one of the greatest sensations in the world.

It all starts with an attitude of praise and adoration for the Creator of this universe. We love because He first loved us (1 John 4:19).

Doesn’t it blow your mind to think that before the beginning of the world, He knew on this day that I would be writing these words and you would be reading this devotion? I am very grateful, baffled, and awestruck all at the same time.

How do we send love? Do we plan it into our day as a goal? Is it on our daily prayer list? We all have goals and prayer concerns, don’t we? Every response will be different because we are all unique! However, in our distinctiveness, there must be a trace of love for others. “Love God, love people.” Right?

The Holy Spirit nudges us toward those in need. Responding is up to us. We can either obey and select our approach or ignore them and regret that we didn’t respond.

Sending love is not that difficult or time consuming. Phone calls, ‘thinking of you’ cards, text messages, emails or even a short visit is all it takes to let someone know that they are loved and treasured. Don’t have time? Well, as you are driving down the road, at least pray for others. Perhaps that is more important than anything else.

So, this morning I am sending you love, and I pray that your day is full of joy. I am so thankful for each of you and ask our heavenly Father to bless your socks off!

Make Me a Blessing

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and all the blessings that You pour over us every day. Help us to share Your love with others and to make their days a little brighter. AMEN.
