Lent Begins on Wednesday
Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. James 4:8
Lent is a season of intentional reflection, where Christians around the world set aside forty days to draw closer to Christ. During this season, many choose to give up something, or fast,—a habit, a comfort, or a distraction—as a way to refocus their hearts and minds on God's presence. It’s a time of self-discipline, where the act of fasting from something reminds us of the sacrifices Jesus made for us. Others may choose to take on a new spiritual practice during Lent—whether it's daily prayer, reading Scripture, or serving others. These practices help deepen our connection with God and invite His transforming work into our lives.
Lent is not about the sacrifice or the new habit itself, but about creating space for God to work in us. It’s a time of spiritual renewal, of emptying ourselves to make room for God’s grace, preparing our hearts for the celebration of Jesus' resurrection. May this Lenten season be a time of meaningful growth, reflection, and deepening faith. Consider for the next two days, what you may do to become more aware of Jesus and His love.
