A Jesus-Breathed Sentence
Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7 (NIV)
Some intense conversations happen in the car while driving/riding! We are held hostage by the rate of speed the driver has chosen to use. We are in the middle of no where and nothing looks familiar. It generally starts with silence followed by that familiar statement, “Let’s talk!” Here it comes! You brace yourself and…. Cynthia Ruchti (Mornings with Jesus) learned an important life lesson during the prayerful, waiting time.

“What will we do if we can’t resolve this?”
My husband stared at the highway from his position behind the steering wheel. I stared at the same scene from the passenger side. But I might as well have turned to face out the back window for all the distance between our opinions on the topic. Funny, now I can’t remember the issue, but what came out of that seemingly impossible impasse changed me.
I turned my attention to the road’s shoulders and ditches we passed in miles of silence. And I turned my heart in a better direction—to seek Jesus.
In the quiet of my soul, I sought His wisdom. The situation wasn’t impossible to Him. He didn’t see our disagreement at an impasse. I let my emotions step back. Jesus, what do You want me to do?
Moments later, I swiveled toward my husband. “I think Jesus wants me to encourage you more,” I said gently. What? No defending my position? No three-point plan explaining how right I was? No “and another thing…”?
As the Jesus-breathed sentence was spoken, peace settled deep in my heart, and in the vehicle. I saw a similar peace rest on my husband’s shoulders. All I did was seek Jesus in a moment that seemed answerless. The solution wasn’t what I expected, planned, or created. It startled me. But it perfectly fit the situation because it came from the Jesus wisdom I sought.
FAITH STEP: Before you speak today, seek Jesus. Listen. Wait. Act upon His wisdom.
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your example of peaceful living. Being right is so important to us that we forget You have the only Right way. Please teach us to live in peace with one other. AMEN.
