Walk Worthy
As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. 1 Thessalonians 4:1 (NIV)
Are we ever worthy?
John the Baptist understood!
“I baptize you with water for repentance, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire…” (Matthew 3:11, ESV).
There are days when I don’t think I am in step with Him. I fall very short of worthy. He helps me regain my strength.
Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel (Philippians 1:27, ESV).
So as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God (Colossians 1:10, ESV)
As far as I can tell, none of us are worthy to receive mercy or grace—or even blessings, but He continues to give them out of the abundance of His great love for us.
I call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies (Psalm 18:3, ESV).
He saves us to accomplish the plans He has for us. Even though we might not recognize them right away. In the meantime, we are taught by Scripture and the Holy Spirit how we are to behave.
We exhorted each one of you and encouraged you and charged you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory (1 Thessalonians 2:12, ESV).
If His words are worthy of trust, why is it so difficult to fully accept them?
The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost (1 Timothy 1:15, ESV).
Only He is worthy but because He has adopted us as His precious children, His life blood flows through us continuing to make us worthy.
Loving Lord, we praise Your Holy Name because You are truly worthy. There is none like You. AMEN.
