Youth Group Meets Sunday 11-20

We’ll be meeting on Sunday at 6:30. This week’s meeting includes a follow up on several upcoming projects/events, reviewing ideas for our Youth-led Christmas service and we’ll decorate the Sanctuary Christmas Tree! All youth are welcome to this meeting!

Upcoming Events

We held a brief parent/youth meeting at the beginning of the month to introduce and update you on several things that are happening. Here’s a quick-ish summary.

Tree Decorating - Join us for our annual tradition of decorating the tree in our Sanctuary this Sunday, 11/20. We’ll also be discussing ideas for the Youth-led Christmas Eve Worship service.

Christmas Party and Worship Rehearsal - Save the date for Sunday 12/18

Pretzel Sales are happening the first Sunday of each month. Proceeds go to the Scholarship Fund.

Families: Please sign up to “host” a Sunday sale. Tasks include purchase, pick up and sell pretzels on one of the following Sundays: 12/4, 1/8, 3/5, 4/2, 5/7, 6/4. Contact Janet for more details.

Mission Trip with Appalachia Service Project - We’re excited to launch another service trip this summer; we’ll be looking at locations in West Virginia once again.

  • Travel dates: July 16-22.

  • For youth ages 13 (8th Grade) and older.

  • Adults are welcome.

  • We need at least 4 more youth to commit before we can secure our registration.

  • Sign up to be a chaperone and all your fees are waived!

  • To commit

    • Let Janet Hilsmier or Bobbie Hoffman know you’re interested

    • $100 deposit via check or through the online giving, select “Mission Trip Payments” in the drop-down.

  • NO students will be turned away from this event due to financial challenges, please contact us.

  • Once we have commitments, we’ll be able to provide links for registration and plan additional meetings to prepare.

Box City 2023 - We are excited that we will be hosting Box City youth event in 2023 and are looking forward to teaching more youth about the challenges of homelessness and food poverty! Save the dates: March 11 & 12 2023. We are collaborating with several Lutheran churches in our synod to share the task load of planning and executing the event. More details will be provided soon.

Youth Ministry programs at St James are available for all students grades 7 through 12. Youth Min includes Confirmation classes, Senior High group meetings and a variety of “all youth” events focusing on service, social and faith-building activities.
