Sr. High Youth Group Updates

Senior High Youth Group meets twice a month during the school year. We spend a portion of our time together reviewing Youth Ministry “business” including interest in planning and participating in upcoming events, the creation of fundraising opportunities, and what might be available for us to do in the Synod or our community.

Attendance at the last meeting was extremely low. We were not able to cover “business” items. Some of these items will be discussed at the next meeting, but we are hosting a special interest meeting this Sunday, October 23 to discuss 3 agenda items. The meeting will be held after the 9AM worship in the Youth Room. Parents and teens are invited to attend.

Sunday, Oct. 23 10:20am Meeting - Youth & Parent

  • Bear Creek Youth Retreat for Confirmation students. This is a SEPA Synod Event (formerly JYG), to be held on November 12. $45 per person. This is an optional event and we will take youth if there is interest.

  • Mission Trip with Appalachia Service Project - We’re putting together another mission trip with ASP for summer 2023. Travel dates: June 24-July 1. Our commitment is due first week of November! Come and learn a bit more about the Mission Trip. Adults and youth are welcome. Invitation will be open to other adults in the congregation.

  • Box City 2023 - What is it? Are we having it? Come and hear more about Box City history and purpose and how you and your youth can help make it happen in 2023.

Soft Pretzel Sales Return!

We are resuming our Soft Pretzel Sales on Communion Sundays! The sales will be held in between the 9 and 10:45 worship services beginning October 30. Proceeds of the pretzel sales benefit the St James Youth Scholarship Fund. We would love to have families participate by picking a weekend to serve.

Pretzel Team will: order/pick up boxed tray of pretzels from a Pretzel Factory store (Gilbertsville or Collegeville) before the 9AM worship service ends, set up a table in narthex or Fellowship Hall, sell the pretzels, turn in cash/checks and clean up.

We’re looking for Pretzel Teams (family or friends) for the following dates: 10/30, 11/6, 11/20 and 12/4! Send your interest to Janet Hilsmier!

Youth Ministry programs at St James are available for all students grades 7 through 12. Youth Min includes Confirmation classes, Senior High group meetings and a variety of “all youth” events focusing on service, social and faith-building activities.
