The Divided Life

“Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” Philippians 4:9

ME: I can handle this. I did it before and I can do it again.

JESUS: Really? What makes you think that you did it the best way possible last time?

ME: (shrug…) I felt pretty good about it.

JESUS: Many people can feel good doing independent or even sinful acts without any remorse or even a second thought.

ME: I don’t mean to sound defensive but Jesus, it was something simple, not life threatening or life changing.

JESUS: That is true, however, it pleases Me to be involved in everything that you think and do.

ME: But some things are just too small and insignificant that it seems like more of a bother than benefit.

JESUS: You are so very wrong. I have heard your head conversations with the past and the future and you totally leave Me out of most scenarios. I am here, right now, in the present. You won’t find me in the past or future.

ME: I don’t get what You are telling me.

JESUS: You decide what you will bring to My attention…usually it is only the big, troublesome things but I want it all. You tend to forget about Me when you are just moving on down the road and your heart is filled with happy thoughts. How did you get those blessings? Where did they come from?

ME: Do I really do that?

JESUS: Yes, you do! I desire to be part of your happy celebrations, rainy day gloom, creative ideas and failures. I am yours all the time. You can’t just forget about me and then pull Me off the shelf when the skies are ominous or scary.

ME: I am so sorry! I don’t mean to ignore You. Oh Jesus, I love You and need You all the time. I am so dense that I can’t figure it out.

JESUS: You need to be all in or all out; there is no halfway with Me! A divided life will only bring you more distrust and disappointment. Precious child of Mine, there are so many lessons yet to learn but you cannot capture the concepts without My help. Please don’t ever think that you can do life all by yourself.

ME: There are so many bigger problems in this world, I just don’t want to bother You with my trivialities.

JESUS: I am here for you; learn from Me.

ME: Somehow, I feel like You have just lovingly scolded me.

JESUS: Well, you’ve figured out that lesson very well.

Jesus
