Beauty of Holiness
Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness. Psalm 29:2
Is this a place? It is a mindset? Can we see it? Is it real? Can we describe it or experience it? If you answered yes to any of those questions, you are on the right track.
I believe that the beauty of holiness can be seen, heard and experienced but it requires a discipline of tuning in and seeing beyond. Don’t worry, I am not getting weird or anything. Of course, we automatically think of beauty of holiness as dazzling white purity. We must go further; looking for what God provides along our journey. There are all kinds of opportunities for us to enjoy Him in our lifetime.
Look at that cluster of trees! How about the sun shine on those autumn leaves of reds, golds and orange? Each tree that still has leaves is a different color, but ever so radiant. Only a loving God would give us such a breathtaking scene to enjoy.
You are hiking far back into the words and all of a sudden hear the water trickle in the newly discovered little stream? You were thirsty and found this gifted to you from your loving Father who knew your needs. The water never tasted better!
Have you ever watched a stranger pull up to help a senior citizen change a flat tire? It is a beautiful sight and it makes your heart happy.
Maybe you have been waiting for the results of a biopsy and it has taken longer than you thought was necessary. When the phone rings and you recognize the doctor’s number and hear the word benign, you have experienced the beauty of holiness.
We tend to make some of these concepts way too difficult. The beauty of holiness can be seen and experienced frequently every day. A smile, greeting, hug, helpful hand, being aware of nature and wildlife, hearing from an old friend, and so much more.
Be encouraged to look beyond what you can see to catch a glimpse of where it came from, our Creator. Let this beauty fill your heart with joy. By the way, He loves to hear us say, “Thank You!”
Heavenly Father, all that You have been, are and will be—we worship You. Our minds cannot grasp Your goodness and faithfulness but we still say thank You. AMEN.
