Prayer of Love

But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renew by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. Titus 3:4-7

 Heavenly Father,

You alone are worthy of all praise and glory, and we thank You for sending your Son to be our Savior. As we celebrate this fourth week of Advent, we focus on the one word that sums up all of Christmas …. Love. Your Love descended from heaven to be born to a virgin. With the witnesses present and surrounded by the hosts of heaven a baby is born. Love lying in that manger in lowly Bethlehem. Help us to reflect on the indescribable, immeasurable Love present in the baby Jesus.

This innocent baby who would remain innocent throughout His life. He would sacrificially give His life all the way to Calvary. Our sin debt paid so we could become Your children. A lamb who came to conquer the world. Emmanuel … God with us to redeem and restore us when we confess you as Lord and Savior of our life. We receive grace and mercy in that moment.

As we celebrate this Christmas with our families and friends, exchange wrapped gifts and rejoice in celebrating together, may we reflect on the greatest gift of all that came that first Christmas, entering into the world wrapped in swaddling clothes in a meager manger. A perfect gift what would later be wrapped in the scars of our sins, nailed to a cross – all because of Love.

Father God, fill our hearts and minds with the significance of that truth. Thank you for loving us enough to send Jesus. In Jesus’ precious name we pray. Amen
