Quiet Strength

But he said, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.” Luke 18:27

ME: Jesus, am I strong?

JESUS: Ummm, what are you referring to? Weightlifting—hardly, but I think I know what you are asking.

ME: Is my faith strong?

JESUS: Well, let’s talk about it. You have prayed for people to be healed when you couldn’t do anything for them. You have prayed for lost souls who now believe in Me. You couldn’t make that happen either, but you believed that somehow it would. You left a good job and friends in FL to come back to be with family and you didn’t have much to count on—except Me. And that turned out just fine.

ME: I know You are right but sometimes I feel so inadequate.

JESUS: My dear child, that is what you are supposed to feel. If you could do all these things, you would not need Me. You can’t but I can. Yes, you really do need Me; more than you will ever know.

ME: I look at other people and I see that their faith is really strong. They get so much done for You!

JESUS: Do they really, now? Do you also hear some of them boast a little too much? And why are you comparing yourself to others?

ME: OK, You caught me there!  I wish I had the personality that could get up and talk about You without any hesitation. My faith is not loud. I have a quiet kind of strength. Is that a bad thing?

JESUS: Of course not.  I was watching you and I know you heard Pastor Chris share in his/our sermon how “A little faith goes a long way!” Why is that so difficult for you to believe?

ME: It seems like we need more and more faith today just to get out of bed and there are times when life is just too hard. It’s not for sissies.

JESUS: Those who believe in Me have eternal life! They can never be called weak for I am their Power. I come with great strength which I freely give to all my children. You each use your faith in different ways. Some speak from platforms. Some sing about Me. Some are on the front lines of battle, and some are feeding My soldiers.

ME: I get it! I need more strength to trust in You because it’s not how much faith I have, but what I do with it.

JESUS: Precisely!

Give Me Faith

Heavenly Father, please give me faith to trust You more. AMEN.
