Established By The Lord

Psalm 37: 23-24 A person’s steps are established by the Lord, and he takes pleasure in his way. Though he falls, he will not be overwhelmed, because the Lord supports him with his hand.

A new friend sent me this Bible verse in an email today. It was exactly what I needed to read. I have always known that God doesn’t do anything by accident.  God always knows what we need exactly when we need it.  It may seem coincidental to us, but God had it planned for a very long time & gave it to us just when we could receive it. 

There are many words in these verses that stand out for me – “steps”, “established”, “takes pleasure”, “not be overwhelmed” & “support”. This verse says a lot. Please take time to ponder these words & what the verse is trying to say to you personally.

Have you ever felt the Lord supporting you with His hand? It has happened to me a couple of times. One time in college I was very overwhelmed & very upset with God & I didn’t know where to turn. I went for a walk by myself in nature near a stream (I seem to feel God near natural water). I was very emotional & as I was walking, I felt God hold me & walk next to me. I will never forget that distinct feeling of not being alone & feeling Someone support my body when I could barely stand. I know it was God sending me a message that He was there with me through the pain & confusion & I was not alone.

 Do you believe that your steps are “established by the Lord”? What does this mean? I believe it has to do with direction. Which way are your steps leading you? Are you praying that God leads your steps? I believe that when we ask God, he will point us to the right path so that we are exactly where He wants us to be always.

Challenge: When emailing friends try adding a relevant Bible verse to your email for encouragement. God will speak to that person through your words & through His words. It is very powerful.

 God, Thank You for being there for us always & for helping us to not be overwhelmed. We are grateful that you establish our steps and support us with Your hand. Help us to soak up all the words in this Bible verse so that we can hear all that You are saying to us. Please let us use our words that You give us to support each other & also use Your words from scripture. In Your holy name we pray Amen.
