Entrusting My Tomorrows

Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes (Matthew 6:34, MSG).

Most of us are intelligent enough to realize that we cannot change the past. It is what it is! However, there is this period of time called the future that we tend to play with, plan for and try to perfect.

ME: In this world today, the only thing that does not look scary is the past. I know I spend way too much time trying to get today right so that tomorrow might be an okay day.

JESUS: My dear child, you are wasting precious time. In the next minute everything you have planned or put together could change.

ME: Yes, but that makes me feel totally out of control and I don’t like that feeling one little bit!

JESUS: I know you have heard these words before, but just in case you need a reminder let Me say them again: “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?” (Matthew 6:25-27, ESV)

ME: Yeah, I know that but it does not stop my struggle with that tomorrow concept.

JESUS: Well, think of it this way, I certainly am doing some new things so stay tuned.

ME: I like new things and I know You are just full of surprises.

JESUS: That I am! So why do you still toy with the future? That is My job and to be quite honest, you don’t do such a great job.

ME: I want to have some input into my tomorrows.

JESUS: From My perspective, you can either trust Me and let Me be your Shepherd, or you can…

ME: …Wait, please don’t say another word.

JESUS: Good, you got the message.

Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus

Gracious Father, thank You for being so trustworthy. Help me trust You more. AMEN!
