Hear Me Oh Lord, Hear My Cries

Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer. From the ends of the earth, I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the foe. Psalm 61:1

I am currently studying the Book of Exodus and digging into what took place. From the time Moses committed murder, that very act not only changed Moses’ life, but his faith has had an impact on each of us today.

Moses escaped into the wilderness in fear for his life. I am certain that he experienced all kinds of feelings. Moses did not have a clue about what was going to happen until years later. But God knew exactly what was to come. It was years away, but God knew the perfect time to execute His plans that benefitted generations to come.

Have you ever been in a situation when you have created havoc and felt the need to run? We hide with embarrassment, fearful of what others will say or even do if they knew the complete truth.

I have, and it’s not pleasant. If only I could run into the back woods and hide, I’d be okay. Then one day, it is all in front of us. We realize that God knows it all and he's been waiting to talk with us. However, we’ve been too busy to chat. But He gets our attention.

God takes our weakness and makes us stronger and uses us to demonstrate His love for us and to help others get to the Promised Land.

There are those that will continue to grumble and try to bring us down. They don’t want to hear God’s truth even when the miracles are obvious—just like the Israelites did. They had short term memories – sort of like us. (I often wonder if we like to grumble because it is easier than praying for guidance.)

We must surrender to His plans and build our faith in His words. Remember the times of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and all those who came after, they went through times of discouragement and felt they were lacking in many areas. God used them and laid out their future just as he’s doing with us. God’s Covenant is still with us today and threads forward into the future for all generations.

Hear My Cry

Father, even in our personal mistakes, You see our potential and will show us Your plans if we turn toward You instead of running out into our desert. Help us find our way back to You. AMEN.
