When I Just Want Out!
I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:12-13
We have all been here countless times so don’t even try to deny it! Whether we are transported by “Comparison Tours” or feelings of poor, pathetic ‘little ol’ me’. The good news is this: We do not have to stay in this dark place. Sarah Young offers a powerful prayer (Jesus Listens) and I am sure we can borrow it without any trouble.

Faithful God,
Help me to learn the secret of being content in any and every situation. I realize that contentment-training is a challenging process—learned through enduring a wide range of difficulties. I thought I was fairly advanced in this training, but then the circumstances of my life got harder. On some days, I am able to cope fairly well with all the stress. On other days, I just want out! Please teach me how to handle the “other days.”
I am so grateful that I can pour out my heart to You—acknowledging how frustrated and upset I’m feeling. Just releasing those pent-up feelings in Your Presence does me a world of good. Knowing that You completely understand me and my circumstances encourages me even more.
Lord, would You please deepen my awareness of Your continual Presence with me? I know I need to stay in communication with You—talking with You, bathing my mind and heart in scriptures that speak to my situation. And singing praises to You lifts my spirit like nothing else! It is good to sing praises to Your Name—declaring Your lovingkindness in the morning and Your faithfulness every night.
