Making Him Smile
The one who sent me is with me; he has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him. John 8:29
ME: Jesus, why is it so difficult to do the things that make You smile? There are so many times when I would rather not do what’s right because I am tired or way out of my comfort zone.
JESUS: I have never asked you to do anything that was impossible for you to accomplish with My help.
ME: Maybe that is the problem, I feel burdened to do right but forget to ask for Your help so it seems like I’m climbing a mountain wearing flip flops.
JESUS: I have never left you along, stranded or defenseless. You have wandered off and done your own thing in the past, and how did that work out for you?
ME: OUCH!
JESUS: I am being honest with you. When you include Me and put My opinion before those of your friends and family, you have been well taken care of. What are you really struggling with right now?
ME: You already know.
JESUS: Yes, but I want you to confess it to Me. Tell Me what is in your heart.
ME: I can be surrounded by all kinds of people but I still feel lonely inside. I would rather be at home, reading or writing than anywhere else. That just makes the situation worse. The Pandemic really messed with me and I just have not recovered. I am lonely! There, I said it!
JESUS: Your emotions are very important to Me because I want you to have a full and joyful life. Remember that I AM here with you all the time.
ME: I know that and I am forever thankful for Your love. But I can’t hug You or take a walk with You or talk to You like a real person.
JESUS: Precious child of Mine, I must ask you why not? I have not left your side after all these years and have no intentions of doing so. Talk to Me. Walk with Me. Feel My loving embrace carrying you in your weaker moments. Accept loving hugs from those I have sent to you. I said those Holy words in John 8:29 many, many years ago but I wrote them for you today as well. Let these words sink into your heart.
ME: Jesus, my heart’s desire is to please You and make You smile.
JESUS: You just did!
