Why Does God Love Me?
If you, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:11
There are days when I don’t feel worthy of God’s love. When I am in this mindset, I can get overwhelmed with emotions and my insecurities. There are days I feel that I have lost my life compass. I don’t really understand what direction I am supposed to be going in. Come on, we’ve all been there! So – what do we do when we are in that lost position? Hopefully, we pray.
Have you ever questioned God’s love? Does He feel our hurt when we hurt? Does He cry when we cry? How does He handle all of us on earth with the magnitude of tears, hurts and pain? How can anyone take this on?
Reading Psalms 56:8, David, experienced so many issues as king, as husband, friend and son. In one of his many writings, he wrote, “You have taken account of my wanderings; you put my tears in Your bottle. Are they not in Your book?” We often forget that even through our deepest hurts and sadness, God knows everything we are experiencing. He IS aware of our situations, and He never leaves us. He is aware of our tears when we begin to waiver in our faith.
I am reminded of the verse of John 3:16,17: For God so loved the world, that he GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God knows all of our SOS’s and He is ready and prepared to send His Comforter. The Holy Spirit is in us, and we have Jesus beside us—especially on those days we need to be reassured. Life is not always going to be as I wish it to be! When nothing seems to be going well, whether it is because of my own misdoings, through illness, or a friend's judgment - I can pray and Jesus will help me carry life’s load. It truly helps sustain me through the tough days. Life will never be perfect. But it is sweeter when we place it in God’s hands and feel the love He tenderly shares.
Father, You are a loving and just God and I am in awe of just how much You care for me—especially when I can’t love myself. Thank You for Your greatest gift of love and for Your Son, Jesus. AMEN.
