When the Warehouse Is Full
Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need. Malachi 3:10
‘Who am I to help you? I don’t have much to offer. I am tired, run down, a little sad and scared of what’s coming next! I can’t seem to help myself, let alone do much for you.’ I think we have all experienced this at one time. My curiosity wants to ask: ‘What did you do with these feelings?’
I observe some of the young mothers with toddlers/teens today and see them running from this activity to the next, being chauffer, mom, friend, referee, chief cook and bottle washer. I hear them discuss how tired and worn out they are. I cannot imagine what they must be going through. To be very blunt, their warehouse is empty.
The picture above shows boxes, but no one knows what is in any of them. It could be non-material things like dreams, hopes, sleep, appreciation, peace, joy and love, etc. When the shelves are empty, it is an uncomfortable sight. It does not feel right. That’s because it isn’t!
When the building is truly empty, it is because we (as God’s children) have not saved for those overwhelming days. We are somewhat disconnected with our Life source and our hearts don’t resonate understanding and joy in that His ways are better than ours.
It would be easy to say that this does not happen often, but we all would be fibbing! If we are not ready for this day ahead of us, there isn’t much that we can do to lend a hand to others when called upon to do so. Getting in shape is not just for the physical part of us. When the spiritual part is connected with our Loving Father, we can fill our warehouse and things seem to fall into place.
A full warehouse allows us to give freely to others in need. We might be asked to give time, support, compassion, sympathy, love or even money. But we will each have an abundance by filling our warehouse with prayer, His Holy Word, worship, study and devotion to Him.
Help and Serve the Poor and Needy
Father God, thank You for providing a way to refill and replenish our own storehouse. Help us to remember to seek Your will daily and stay connected. AMEN.
