Breathtaking

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Psalm 19:1

The shades of autumn are breathtaking! I can find no other word that explains the feeling I get when driving from Arnot to Wellsboro. The colors on Bloss Mountain are spectacular and a camera does not do it justice.

The Creator of the Universe made this all for us to see and enjoy. In our busy world, it is so easy to miss the various shades of grandeur that bedazzles the mountains and announces the final closure of summer.

How could anyone with eyesight not see His handiworks and feel joyful?

For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Issaiah 55:12

Each season has its own beauty but autumn possess the most vibrant colors. Not only did He take His pallet and use the lush colors, but he also put a ray of hope in our hearts, if only for a season.

Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end. Ecclesiastes 3:11

It is difficult to find anything as beautiful as viewing the moon and stars here in the mountains. The gentle breeze swipes the leaves from the trees and I can hear the deer moving about.

When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? Psalm 8:3-4

Some of my deepest desires and concerns are shared with Him at dusk as the sun goes down.

On the glorious splendor of your majesty, and on your wondrous works, I will meditate. Psalm 145:5

Is it even possible to be unsure of how all this beauty came about? Certainly, it is a blessing poured out upon us by a loving, caring Creator.

But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? Job 12:7-9

No matter where we go, His beauty can be found—if we search.

For the Beauty of the Earth

Eternal Lord, thank You for the seasons, for eyes to see the beauty and for sharing it with us. Help us to be alert and aware of Your presence all around us. AMEN.
