All Saints Prayer
To the church of God that is in Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, together with all those who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 1:2,3
We give you thanks, God, for all the saints, who ever worshiped You
Whether in beautiful meadows, quiet forests, or cathedrals,
Weathered wooden churches or in secret catacombs,
Wherever Your name has been lifted and adored.
We give You thanks, O God, for hands lifted in praise:
The soft hands of children and hands calloused by hard work,
Strong and weak hands, and those gnarled with age.
All holy hands used to send offerings wherever there has been need.
We thank you, God, for Your faithful saints;
They left their mark on the earth for You, for us, for our children to come.
Thank you, God, for the tremendous sacrifices made by those who have gone before us.
Bless the memories of Your saints, God.
May we learn how to walk wisely and humbly from their examples of faith, dedication, worship, and love.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
