YOU Give Me Joy

When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. Matthew 2:10 (NKJV)

ME: Right now, it’s so easy to lose my joy. It ranks right up there with never being able to find my cell phone.

JESUS: (laughing) You could find your phone faster if you would turn up the volume instead of leaving it on silent mode. It is like the joy you misplace. You tend to get unplugged from Me.

ME: I guess I do both, don’t I?

JESUS: Yes, and I still love you.

ME: This time of year seems so hectic and stressful. It only takes a sigh or a disapproving glance to steal my joy.

JESUS: Let Me remind you that you do not know what was behind the sigh or the migraine headache raging in that pained glance.

ME: You are absolutely right, and I know Your Word says even the shepherds experienced great joy. I want this know this excitement. Forgive me, but I struggle with joy.

JESUS: Yes, I know you very well. My precious child, if you humans could just turn off all forms of media, what do you think would happen?

ME: Everything would collapse, a cataclysmic disaster of major proportion. Life as we know it, would end!

JESUS: Not everything! I would remain. I have been here since the beginning of time. My children have experienced joy in the midst of wars, diseases, ruin and great losses. My Joy is a gift that I freely give to those who stay…plugged into Me.

ME: I think it takes lots of practice because the world pulls hard the other way.

JESUS: And the world is run by the media. If you want My Joy, you must seek Me.

ME: Jesus, I would never, ever debate You. That would be a really dumb move on my part. I only wanted to talk to You about finding more joy.

JESUS: Have you found it?

ME: Well, no, not really.

JESUS: What is the problem?

ME: I’m still back on You shutting down all media. It was just an attention getter, right?

JESUS: It worked, didn’t it?

ME: Yes, for real. I think maybe you’re trying to tell me that if I lose my focus on the real meaning of Christmas—with the crazy-making media screaming in my head—You remain and offer me Your Joy. No matter what happens, You are with me!

JESUS: YES! You have found the source with no WIFI needed!

Joyful, Joyful We Adore Thee
