Tell Somebody!
So they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the child lying in the manger. When they saw this, they made known what had been told them about this child; and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds told them. Luke 2:16-18
Are you someone who can’t wait to share good news? Who is the first one you call to announce a new job, engagement, or the birth of a child? One of my favorite parts of the Christmas story is that the shepherds told others about the birth of the Lord Jesus. They were not embarrassed, did not seem to worry about what people would think of them, and did not think about how they would answer any questions they may be asked.
They were first terrified of the appearance of an angel, amazed by the news their Messiah had been born, and overwhelmed by a multitude of angels praising God. I can only imagine how overjoyed they were to find the newborn King and see His beautiful face! What they experienced compelled them to share the news.
When have you shared about Jesus - perhaps about your faith, your relationship with Him or something He has done for you?
Sharing about Jesus can be very hard to do. But Jesus has told us to share what we know about Him with others. If you haven’t done this in a while and feel uncomfortable about it, I can think of two ways to start. First, pray about it and ask God to give you an opportunity and the words to tell someone about Jesus. Then remember, you have the Holy Spirit within you, to give you the courage, compassion and everything you need to share your love for Jesus.
It is not too late to give someone the best Christmas gift ever!
Lord God, help us to follow the shepherds’ example and share the good news of Christ that we have been given. Amen.
