What’s the Game Plan?

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Proverbs 16:9 (ESV)

ME: Jesus, why is life so difficult at times?

JESUS: Well, sometimes it is challenging because you are not in step with Me. You have your own agenda and it is does not look anything like Mine.

ME: How do I get so far off? I often think that I hear Your voice and can almost see the plan. What am I doing wrong?

JESUS: Patience, My child! You tend to be reactive instead of proactive.

ME: When I don’t hear from You, what am I supposed to do—just sit and wait?

JESUS: The wait part is correct. You can go on about your day with your routine.

ME: But how will I know what You have for me each day?

JESUS: You will know because it won’t be difficult. I know your dreams and thoughts. Doors will open for you. Again, it might not look anything like what you hoped for or desired.

ME: OK, I think I understand. But Jesus, even when I am doing the right thing, it seems grueling.

JESUS: Be aware that righteous living goes against society today. There will always be those who talk about you, mock you and mistreat you. My life is your example. Yes, it was hard but My Father had a game plan for Me and He has one for you as well.

ME: Please tell me it’s not as demanding as Yours!

JESUS: What I did was once for all. There will be no repeat performances.

ME: I’m glad to hear that. I do wish I could see the full day at the start of it. That would save a lot of time and anguish.

JESUS: You could not handle what is going to happen in the next hour or minute. That is why I have stated frequently in the Word how important it is to stay in the present tense. Right now is all you need to be concerned with.

ME: How will I know what to do next?

JESUS: Try asking Me!

ME: Oh yeah, I sort of forget that at times, don’t I?
