Resurrection People

I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 1:19-20

If you attended a worship service yesterday, you most likely heard the words, “Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! After the solemnity of Lent and Good Friday, it was exciting to be part of a celebration of Christ’s resurrection.

But what happens today, Monday, the day after Easter - not to mention the days and weeks to follow? Do we go back to the “same old” ordinary things of life? Or are we changed because of what happened on that first Easter Sunday?

My prayer for all of us is that we live each day as Resurrection people. The power that rose Jesus from the dead, now resides in us in the Holy Spirit. We have a Living Savior to follow, Who has promised to never leave us and we have instant access to God our Father!

Resurrection people still deal with the problems of daily life, we get sick and feel tired. We can lose patience when stuck in traffic, and experience loneliness. When we lose a loved one to death, we grieve.

But we have a confident hope, a profound trust, an overwhelming joy that Christ’s victory over sin, death and evil is our victory as well. Through faith in Him, by the grace of God, we are living infused with resurrection power.

With that power we serve others in need. With that transformational power we have courage and humility to share our faith with people, strangers we meet at the grocery store, and those in our own families. All because we no longer rely on our strength, but on His. We can do all that God is calling us to do through His power.

Lord Jesus, remind us daily of the resurrection power You have given us to live fully now for You and eternally with You. Amen.
