A New Day

Giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ Ephesians 5:20

Getting used to a new writing space is not an easy transition. But to look out and see the birds and squirrels sharing seeds at the feeders and fawns frolicking in the field makes it easier. From my desk, I can watch the chipmunks chasing each other. Their antics are hilarious and make me laugh.

This morning I got up early and fed the deer. When I went into the garage there wasn’t a single deer to be seen. Stepping back out, there were two young bucks, three doe and four fawns standing there looking at me; trusting that I would be giving them something yummy to eat. I didn’t disappoint them.

Yesterday we took a ride and watched a bear cross the road in front of us. Oh my! My heart skipped a beat with excitement. We traveled on twenty different back roads looking for wildlife—birds, flowers, and critters. I never seem to grow tired of watching for a great camera shot.

I am extremely grateful for the ability to see all this natural beauty around me.

This yearning to return to my roots has become a reality and I totally enjoy being here. But in order to embrace this, I must willingly give up something. That is the way it is on this life-journey path we are travelling. We are abundantly blessed but then He says:

JESUS: I have something else for you. You’ll enjoy it but you must step away from the familiar and trust Me.

ME: But I want both.

JESUS: You cannot have both. Just trust Me!

ME: Why is this so emotional for me?

JESUS: Because you want to be in control. You want to know what the future holds before you jump in with both feet. I am your future.

ME: I guess when You put it that way, I can loosen my choke hold.

JESUS: You never were in control and never will be! Appreciate each moment of the present and build from there. You will find Me in the present and we can enjoy it together.

ME: I see Your hand in nature all around me. I am truly grateful for this.

JESUS: I knew you would be! Thank Me every chance you get. Just like those deer this morning, I will not disappoint you.

Count Your Blessings

Father, thank You for prying us out of our comfort zones. Help us to trust You more. We are predictable people. Teach us to hear Your voice as You call us away from the familiar to the next level. AMEN.
