Finding Peace
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
ME: Jesus, I’m grateful for the opportunity to raise my trust level. You know, that has always been an issue with me.
JESUS: Yes, I am well aware of that.
ME: I wish we could have done it without the pain and discomfort. Why has trust always been such a huge hurdle for me? I rank it right up there with peace. They both seem just out of my reach.
JESUS: Did you know that understanding will never give you peace or trust. That’s why I have instructed you to trust in Me, not in your understanding.
ME: I really don’t understand You very well, but I guess I don’t have to, do I?
JESUS: Human beings have a voracious appetite for trying to figure things out in order to gain mastery over their lives.
ME: I don’t do that anymore, do I?
JESUS: Be careful! The world presents you with an endless series of problems. As soon as you master one set, another pops up to challenge you. The relief you had anticipated is short-lived.
ME: Well, what do You want me to do?
JESUS: Instead of searching for understanding (mastery), seek Me, your Master.
ME: Sometimes You make no sense at all—not even a little.
JESUS: Those are the times I want you to trust Me completely. If you want peace, you will trust Me. Look at Solomon. The wisest of all men could never think his way to peace. His vast understanding resulted in feelings of futility rather than fulfillment.
ME: Yeah! He lost it all.
JESUS: I want you to internalize the concept that My peace is not an elusive goal, hidden at the center of some complicated maze.
ME: Then why are peace and trust so hard to find and hang onto?
JESUS: You have not yet realized that you are always enveloped in peace, which is inherent in My Presence.
ME: You mean I already have it?
JESUS: Yes, as much as you want. Trust Me!
Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. 2 Thessalonians 3:16
