Can We See The Kingdom?
“People [won’t] say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the kingdom of God is in your midst.” Luke 17:21
About Disneyland, Walt Disney said, “Here is the world of imagination, hopes and dreams. ...” As popular as the Magic Kingdom may be, we know of a Kingdom infinitely better!
Throughout His ministry, Jesus proclaimed the Good News. He said, “The kingdom of God is near! It’s here!” Jesus was saying it was right before people’s eyes, through Him in what He taught and did.
He healed the sick and fed the hungry. He touched the untouchable and taught the unteachable. He welcomed the weary and burdened. He forgave sinners and challenged the self-righteous. All of it was evidence that the Kingdom of God had come. When Jesus sent out His followers - seventy-two believers, they healed the sick, as Jesus had.
Jesus said you can’t point to the Kingdom of God and say, “There it is!” Not because there’s no evidence of the Kingdom—but because He wants us to be alert for signs of the Kingdom all around us. As we follow Jesus in faith, we become Kingdom dwellers as we proclaim the Kingdom is here when the gospel is shared and acts of service, kindness and love are done in His name.
Help us to see Your kingdom Jesus. Send us out as Kingdom dwellers, sharing You through the power of the Holy Spirit Amen.
