A Hard Thing to Do
Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, and whose hope is in the LORD. Jeremian 17:7 (NIV)
ME: Trusting You is a hard thing to do. I really have to consciously think of verses that assure me of Your gentle touch and constant care.
JESUS: Yes, I am aware of that.
ME: Why is it so difficult for me to trust that You have a plan for me? What am I missing?
JESUS: The trust! Yes, I have a plan for you and your brain/memory remind you of that fact from years of study. But, in Your inner-most being, do you believe that it is completely true?
ME: Maybe…well, most of the time. When flash floods roar through my life, I know what I’m supposed to do but I still get anxious and lose sleep. It’s not as bad as it used to be, and I know it is wrong. Will there ever be a time when I can honestly say “I don’t care!” to the earthly circumstances?
JESUS: You must exert your will to trust Me in each event. Do not let your need to understand distract you from My Presence.
ME: You’re right! I am still trying to analyze everything.
JESUS: I know you have fears, but you don’t share them with Me. I cannot help you with your honest request unless you talk to Me. Tell Me what you are afraid of and why. Let me say that again, “I already know.” You act as if I am going to punish or hurt you. My precious child, your state of fear and anxiety are punishment enough. I do not condemn you. I speak with loving sensitivity through My Holy Spirit.
ME: That is not an easy concept for me.
JESUS: Let My Spirit be your resident Tutor helping you in the supernatural endeavors, but you must be alert to the promptings. You want conclusions before you even state the problems.
ME: That is very true.
JESUS: Yes, I am fully aware. You spend so much time dreading situations that may never even happen. Be concerned with today because tomorrow will worry about itself.
ME: But how do I do this? Where do I start?
JESUS: Trust me just for today. I have given you only today—24 hours—and if I were to give you more time, you would implode.
ME: Your Word says, “O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you (Psalm 84:12). I want to please You.
JESUS: You are off to a good start!
