Senior High Youth meets this Sunday!

5:30pm - 8:00pm — Send us a text to the Youth Group chat that you’re coming! Dinner is included; please let us know what you might bring. (It’s also OK to come empty handed!) We’ll be meeting in the YOUTH ROOM only this week as there is a function being held in Fellowship Hall.

We Can’t Do Box City without You!

Registration is open through this week! Check our our new WHY BOX CITY video!

Options available

  • Build a box and sleep outdoors with your friends

  • Indoor Shelter Experience: Set up a mat & sleeping bag indoors in our Fellowship Hall.

  • For other special arrangements please call Janet Hilsmier at 484.868.1295.

Open to youth in grades 6 through 12, the event creates awareness about the plight of unhoused citizens and food-impoverished families in our communities. Box City simulates a homeless encampment in the church parking lot (yes they sleep in boxes overnight!) with soup kitchen style dinner, service project, prayer, guest speakers and several educational rotations. Youth will get great exposure and opportunity to help support the needs of our neighbors in Pottstown. We invite teens and their leaders from area churches to help us create this experience and raise funds for a charitable beneficiary.

This year our beneficiary will be Pottstown Beacon of Hope, who is raising funds to build a Warming Center in Pottstown. City zoning codes are making it harder for Pottstown churches to provide shelter for displaced people and a dedicated shelter will make a huge difference to those in need. Our goal is to raise $10,000 for PBOH which is about 5% of their total fund goal.

Box City Registration is Open through March 5!

If we do not make our minimum attendance goal of 30 students, we will have to cancel the event (or modify it to a one-day experience). If this happens, current registrations will be refunded. Donations to PBOH will be passed on to them.

Follow the link or scan the QR code to launch our Box City Website. It is full of details about when to arrive, what to bring, costs ($45/student) and necessary forms. If you have more than one student, you can register them all in one transaction. You have the option to pay online or by check. All the details are on the website.

Help Wanted!

Volunteers are also necessary to make Box City run smoothly and safely. Adults may sign up to volunteer here: Volunteer Registration

Help Us Raise Funds!

We believe that through the combined efforts of congregations across the SEPA synod, we will meet our goal! Copy and share our link for online giving or copy and send this image.

Easter Egg Hunt @Home

Help us spread Easter joy throughout our communities!

Over the last couple years, we’ve been delighting children in the area with our personalized Easter Egg Hunt at Home! You’re invited to participate!!

We advertise the event to our church and His Kids Preschool families to allow us to come and treat them. Last year we served 34 families totally 77 children! Preschool families are already signing up… we have over 20 families interested so far!

This year, delivery day is April 1. St James Youth are invited to team up. We still need more delivery teams! Teams can be parent/child, siblings or friends. All the eggs are pre-counted and bagged. You’ll pick up your eggs and addresses for delivery ahead of time. We will do our best to assign routes with geographical proximity to each other and to the driving team’s home neighborhood.

Sign up NOW for this event.

Did you know? Students who volunteer at St James events and fundraisers can count their time towards National Honors Society and Jr NHS service hours!
